NYCSubMap

Get the NYCSubMap app

Free, no app store, nothing to update. It opens from your home screen like any other app — and the map keeps working underground with no signal.

Install on this device

If your browser can install it directly, the button does it in one tap. Otherwise follow the steps for your phone below.

iPhone and iPad

  1. Open nycsubmap.com in Safari.
  2. Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up).
  3. Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.

Android

  1. Open nycsubmap.com in Chrome.
  2. Tap Install when it is offered — or open the ⋮ menu and tap Install app (on some phones, Add to Home screen).

Computer (Chrome or Edge)

Click the install icon at the right of the address bar, or open the browser menu and choose Install NYCSubMap. It opens in its own window.

What works without signal

Once you have opened the app with a connection, it keeps on your device: the full map with every station, Stations near me, every line and station list, and the place search (landmarks, neighborhoods, ZIP codes). Planning a journey and service alerts need a connection — the planner works out routes on our server, and alerts come live from the MTA's feed. Street-address search also needs a connection.

Your privacy

The app is this website, kept on your phone — it asks for no extra permissions. Location is used only when you press a “near me” button, and your position never leaves your device. See the privacy policy.
